I am really tired of seeing people blame the Biden administration for the raising of prices while big companies like Kroger are bragging to their shareholders that they are sharing prices just because they can. I would just like to thank the graffiti removal people at the city of Longmont for keeping the picnic shelters clear of graffiti and also especially at Lichens Gulch. That was the first thing I turned to on Sunday mornings. ‘Prince Valiant’īoy was I ever disappointed when I realized that my favorite cartoon, “Prince Valiant,” had been removed. There should be plenty of money coming in to fund this and more. Why? Property values increased 25% since 2019 and are projected to increase over 60% by 2028. (The) City Council wants to increase property taxes for a new branch library, an entertainment center and perhaps more.Local property (valuations) were up 35% this year, grocery prices are 25% higher than just two years ago, and the total sales tax in Longmont is now at an all-time high 8.715%. (The) City Council is whistling Dixie if they think they can get any ballot issue passed this fall involving a tax increase.
